Haiti - Literature : «Le massacre de Jérémie - opération vengeance»

This Saturday, January 24 from 2 p.m., the Centre Na Rive and the editions Dialogue Nord-Sud are pleased to invite you to the launch of the novel by Gary Klang and Anthony Phelps, « Le massacre de Jérémie – opération vengeance » (The massacre of Jérémie - revenge operation), at Centre N A Rive (6971 Street Saint-Denis, Montréal, QC H2S 2S5).

The massacre of Jérémie is based on real events. Following an invasion of South of Haiti, organized bythirteen young opponents to the dictator Duvalier, the latter decides to eliminate them and in retaliation, he massacred members of their families.

Like so many of his countrymen, Philippe Rivière had left Haiti, his native country. He lives in Paris when he heard the news. He then returned to Port-au-Prince and becomes the man of revenge.

Gary Klang and Anthony Phelps take us with Rivière in a breathless pursuit.

Real thriller, The massacre of Jérémie testifies of the barbarism of the Duvalierism.

Gary Klang was born in Haiti and lived in Quebec since 1973. Doctor of Letters from the Sorbonne (thesis on Proust) and author of twenty books: novels, poems, essays, short stories... His latest novel, "Monologue pour une scène vide" (Monologue for an empty stage), was published in 2013 with Dialogue Nord-Sud.

Anthony Phelps, born in Haiti, is member of the Haiti Literary Group. He lives in Quebec since 1964. His work has been translated into several languages, includes thirty titles : poetry, novels, short stories and fifteen poetry disks.
