The mobilization of the Caritas network, which takes emergency actions since January on the whole of the Haitian territory, made it possible to come to assistance of more than 1.5 million people. The engagement of the Secours catholique-Caritas France is particularly directed in the direction of the populations having received little international assistance, at the same time in the perish-urban zone of Port au Prince, but also in the forgotten rural areas. The association also supports its partners and diocesan Caritas in order to create the conditions for reception and settlement of displaced populations through the implementation of income generating activities and schooling of children.

To best fulfill its mission to support its local partners, Secours Catholique-Caritas France opens in Port-au-Prince office for the coordination, support and follow-up of the carried out projects. It will respond in time (3-5 years), the requirement of quality and transparency of actions supported by the association in Haiti.

In spite of a difficult context marked by the arrival of the season of the cyclones and the behavior of the presidential elections at the end of November, the phase of rebuilding of the country gradually will succeed that of the urgencies. The Help Catholic-Caritas France starts actions of rehabilitation right now. Through its partners CRAterre and the Haitian Platform of Plea for an Alternative Development (Plateforme Haïtienne de Plaidoyer pour un Développement Alternatif PAPDA), the Secours Catholique-Caritas France supports in particular a reconstruction project and of improvement of the habitat and training in rural environment in the locality of Cap-Rouge in the south-east of the country.
