Haiti - Politic : The opposition is preparing to overthrow the government

If for many, the dysfunction of Parliament and the departure of 4 of the 6 senators member of the G6 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12934-haiti-politic-it-s-over-the-curtain-fell-on-the-parliament.html just put an end to the crisis, the radical opposition, has a different view of the course of events, more determined than ever to overthrow the Government, through popular mobilization.

Me Newton St Juste and Me André Michel, fierce opponents of President Martelly are preparing their offensive, suggesting that the President will issue decrees, that will not surrender justice to the population, citing an alleged decree, that would give discharge to the resigning ministers of governments, while allegations of corruption exist over some of them.

Describing the dysfunctional situation in Parliament, of "political disaster" Me Newton St Juste, invites the population to use all peaceful and democratic weapons to fight against a government in power he describes as aggressive and that he accuses of having enriched on the backs of the people... He announces a upcoming release of a new mobilization calendar, which will force the President Martelly to give up power.

Moreover, he is convinced that the US Ambassador Pamela Ann White, who has provided her support to the Head https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12920-haiti-flash-the-united-states-alongside-martelly-even-in-case-of-failure-of-the-agreement.html "Will not allow him to retain power" Finally, he considers "unacceptable that Martelly led by decree," inviting people to a general mobilization for the departure of the Head of State. Forgetting that the Constitution, in Article 136 requires the President of the Republic "to ensure the regular functioning of public authorities and the continuity of the State." what implicitly authorizes him to rule by decree.

Furthermore, Serges Jean Louis, one of the members of the Commission mobilization of the "Patriotic Movement for Democratic Opposition" (MOPOD) continues to call on the Government disgruntled citizens, to join the mobilization movement of the opposition. He indicated that the 'table de concertation' of the opposition, is working on a new mobilization schedule, which should be known before the end of this week.

Assad Volcy, the Coordinator of the radical organization "Opposition Tèt Ansanm" (OTAN), denounced some parliamentarians that he accuse to have partnered with the international community, with the aim to leaving the field open to the President Martelly to rule the country by decree. Affirming that the dysfunction of Parliament, has always been the secret project of the Executive.

For his part, Charles Henry Baker, the leader of RESPE party, denounced an attempt by the Head of State, to take control of the new Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) and violating Article 289.1 of the Constitution which states "[...] The bodies or organizations concerned transmit to the Executive the name of their representative" while a Presidency note https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12932-haiti-elections-24-hours-to-present-candidates-for-the-cep.html precise "to present to the President of the Republic, two independent persons having no partisan affiliation, whose one is the main choice and the other alternative choices." For the leader of RESPE "By having a list of two personalities, the head of state could choose the one that is ready to sympathize with him," convinced that this is an attempt to take control of the new CEP.

Tuesday, former Senator Moïse Jean-Charles, leader of the party "Pitit Desalin" at a press conference in Delmas, stated that the failure of the last National Assembly, that prevented the extension of the parliamentary mandates provided for in the agreement of 29 December www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12833-haiti-flash-the-mandates-of-deputies-and-senators-extended-under-conditions.html , is a victory not only against those in power but also against the international community "We won a real victory in our battle [...] This first victory will lead us straight to a peaceful revolution," adding that the opposition must benefit of its momentum and continue the fight against the Martelly administration, announcing the resumption of the mobilization "The watchword is launched, we must continue to manifest until the President Martelly leaves power."

Finally he launched a warning to the Prime Minister appointed Paul Evans, asking him to refuse to be installed at the Primature, if he does not want to lose his entire political credibility and become the target of the opposition just as the Head of State.
