In a correspondence addressed to the Deputy Jacques Stevenson Thimoléon, President of the Lower House, Paula Caldwell St-Onge, Ambassador of Canada in Haiti denounced the behavior in recent weeks, of several parliamentarians, including the Deputy Arnel Bélizaire, as well as members of their security team, which circulate in the demonstrations with illegal assault weapons.

In this correspondence, whose a copy was sent to Dieuseul Simon Desras, President of the Senate, the diplomat stressed "The respect that the Haitian population demonstrates to the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and law enforcement should be enhanced by the actions of elected Haitian [...] The carrying of assault weapons by Haitian elected at democracy demonstrations, projects an image that disturbs the international community."

Recalling that "Such provocative actions could also hinder investor interest, what would be detrimental to the economic development of Haiti. This lack of respect for the rule of law concerns us."

"We urge you to do everything in your power to call to order parliamentarians who do not respect the laws of Haiti."

Insisting that in the democratic demonstrations, it is ensured that there is no risk to the safety of the protesters, authorities and especially the population.
