Haiti - Social : Accelerated vocational training for teenage-mothers

15 young teenage mothers aged 14 to 20, came from the Department of Centre, including Thomonde, Cerca-Carvajal and Lascahobas completed a two-week accelerated training in cosmetology (manicure, pedicure and hair) at the Haitian Center for Research and Action for the Advancement of Women (CREPOF). This program of the Ministry of Women and Women's Rights (MCFDF) aims to improve the situation of girls become mothers prematurely and living in situations of extreme precariousness.

Aware of this problem, the Ministry believes that it is urgent to give these girls a chance to have a profession that would allow them to survive and take care at the same time of their children. Recall that the CREPOF, which works since 1975, has for mission to change the condition of women in the country, especially the girls experiencing early pregnancy.

After this training period, the young beneficiaries expressed their satisfaction and warmly thanked Marie Yanick Mézile, Minister for Women for this initiative and for her commitment. They are return to their home with a kit containing the tools related to the exercise of their new profession, but especially with a feelings of well being.
