Haiti - Diplomacy : Traditional official ceremony of wishes

Thursday at the National Palace, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by his wife Sophia Martelly received, the members of the great bodies of the State and of diplomatic corps, on the occasion of the traditional official ceremony of wishes.

In the presence of outgoing Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, the President of the Senate, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, the President of CSPJ, of members of the CEP, the acting Dean of the diplomatic and consular corps and other great servants of the State, the President Martelly is committed to relentlessly pursue, in the year 2015, the efforts made since its accession to power, for a democratic Haiti, prosperous, proud and dignified.

In addition, the Head of State reiterated its willingness to work to strengthen relations between Haiti and its international partners, highlighting the role played by his Administration in the historic rapprochement between the President of the United States, Barack Obama and of Cuba, Raúl Castro "I welcome the good relations developed in particular with member countries of CARICOM, the countries of North America, Latin America, Europe, the traditional friends countries of Asia and the African countries with which Haiti has particular historical ties, without forgetting the international institutions we are members. I take this opportunity to welcome the historic decision of the President of the United States and the President of Cuba, to renew the diplomatic relations after a break of half a century. Haiti is proud to have been able to play, even if it is minimal, a role in bringing these two friendly peoples."

For his part, the acting Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, the Venezuelan Ambassador Pedro Antonio Canino Gonzalez, welcomed the efforts of the Administration Martelly to keep the country on the path of progress. He also welcomed the steps taken by the Haitian executive, to find a compromise to organize the next elections.
