In a diplomatic note, the President of the Republic, Michel Martelly, said he learned with satisfaction the recovery process of diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba, after more than half a century of interruption.

"The Head of State welcomed the contribution of the Republic of Haiti, under his leadership in the process of negotiations leading to the release of US citizen Alan Gross.

The President Martelly, who salutes the normalization of relations between the two countries, expresses the wish that these provisions serve as inspiration and example for the construction and maintenance of harmonious relations between the brotherly peoples of the Western Hemisphere."
