Haiti - Politic : Violent protest in the capital, one dead

Saturday at the call of the opposition a new anti-government demonstration was held in the capital. Several thousand people marched in the streets of Port-au-Prince, chanting slogans against the government, demanding the resignation of President Martelly and Prime Minister.

Like the day before, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-12722-haiti-politic-violent-protest-in-the-capital-the-minustah-intervenes.html , hundreds of young protesters, tried unsuccessfully to cross the roadblocks set up in front of the Presidential Palace, clashing with violence and stone-throwing the security forces that reacts vigorously with tear gas to disperse the crowd of demonstrators.

At this event, several minor injuries were reported and a man was found shooting death, of an unknown origin shot. Commissioner Garry Desrosiers, spokesman of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) confirmed this information "We found a corpse. The victim is a young thirty years, we have not yet identified him."

Other opposition demonstration have experienced violence and clashes with police including in Gonaïves and Port-de-Paix

The parties of the radical opposition have announced further demonstration in Port-au-Prince in the coming days to demand the departure of President Martelly.
