Haiti - Politic : Dissent within the platform INITE
Carol Joseph, secretary general of the Party Louvri Baryè (PLB) [founding member of the former presidential platform Lespwa become Inite] and current Secretary of State for Literacy has confirmed in a statement that the board of the party realized that became impossible to implement its principles and political ideals in the platform INITE. So he decided at an extraordinary general meeting held on September 19 of the final withdrawal of PLB from platform INITE.
The Secretary General insisted that the party's political bureau had a warrant to support one of 19 candidates for president in November and that is what the party intended to do without specifying the name of the candidate. However, some leaders are very close to ex-Prime Minister Jacques-Edouard Alexis, a candidate for the presidency under the banner of Mobilization for the Progress of Haiti (Mobilisation pour le progrès d’Haïti MPH) and everything suggests that the PLB could support that candidate.
This is the second manifestation of dissent within the platform INITE after the start [of the platform INITE] Jacques-Edouard Alexis, the initial choice for the presidency and after a last minute volte face which allowed for Jude Celestin to oust Alexis and being named official candidate for the succession of René Préval.
