Haiti - Social : Formation of trainers on violence against women
In collaboration with NGOs and the Haitian government, the "Human Right" section of the UN Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (MINUSTAH) inform to have organized this month, 3 sessions of formation on gender-based violence, for the police.

Sian Evans, coordinator of the thematic sub-group violence and gender-specific of MINUSTAH said that the objective of such formation, "is to strengthen the capacity of military officers, UNPOL agents and the Haitian National Police (PNH) in preventing and responding to gender violence recorded in the IDP camps in particular" indicating that this is "formation of trainers, since the beneficiaries are responsible for transmitting the knowledge acquired to their colleagues". 80 commanders of units of MINUSTAH, 24 officers UNPol (UN Police) and 5 PNH officers have received training that should be followed by other sessions.

In addition, the coordinator has announced the forthcoming introduction of mobile units, donated by the U.S. government to serve as police stations in the six camps which benefit from the continued presence of security forces (Caradeux, Acra, Jean Marie Vincent Petion-Ville Club, Coral-Celesselesse and Tabarre Issa). In addition, these mobile units will improve the conditions of police work and make more effective interventions.
