Haiti - Politic : Unconditional support of the EU to Haiti

Monday at the Primature, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, had an important working session with the delegation of the European Union (EU) led by Ambassador Javier Nino Perez, in the presence of Marie-Carmelle Jean-Marie Minister of Economy and Finance, Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development and the National Authorising Officer, Jean-Eder Nelson around the portfolio review of the bilateral cooperation EU-Haiti.

During this working session, 66 major projects of seven major programs, including road infrastructure, urban regeneration, public governance, food security, budget support, agricultural production, trade and environment were reviewed.

The Prime Minister praised the cooperation between the EU and Haiti, which is based on respect and trust and results in direct budgetary support to the Haitian government, saying "It shows that the country is moving in the right direction and that there is a Government responsible, dedicated to develop and rebuild the country."

Ambassador Javier Nino Perez said seen tremendous progress in the country and reiterated the EU in the Government of Haiti, while reaffirming the unconditional support of the EU to Haiti.

Moreover, Laurent Lamothe announced the creation of a Joint Committee, for the development of a work calendar and the holding of a sectoral meeting for the next three months, in order to complete several strategic projects funded by the EU and the Government of Haiti.
