Shannon, Counselor of the United States Department of State, in an interview with the Voice of America, said he was confident that there exists a chance that the political opposition parties find a solution to the electoral impasse in Haiti.

Recalling that his recent visit to Haiti was aimed to express the interests of the United States for an agreement is found on the vote of the electoral law, which is essential to organize the elections.

He said he was convinced that everyone is trying to find a solution in its own way, saying that President Michel Martelly had made great efforts to try to address the concerns of the opposition. However, according to him, some branches of the opposition think, for various reasons, that the President has not shown enough commitment to hold elections in the country.

While hoping that Haitian find an agreement on this issue, he qualified of speculation the statements that want to suggest that the President Martelly intends to lead by decree Haiti after January 12, 2015.
