Haiti - Education : Inauguration of the High School Charlemagne Péralte of Belladère

Thursday Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), accompanied by Écclésiaste Thélémaque, the Deputy Director General of the Ministry, and members of his Cabinet proceeded to the inauguration of the High School Charlemagne Péralte of Belladère (built in 1989), fully refurbished and modernized, in the presence of the Ambassador of Japan in Haiti, Katsuyoshi Tamura, local authorities, high school students, parents and teachers.

The high school Charlemagne Péralte is composed of three buildings of six classrooms; administrative area comprising, among others, the directorate, the censorship, administration and staff room; a library; a computer lab equipped with fifteen computers with Internet access; a toilet block; an outdoor stage and a playground of almost 500 m2.

The reconstruction works of the high school Charlemagne Péralte of Belladère (Centre), borough Lascahobas were funded by the Japanese counterpart funds from the monetization of rice and realized by the company Extraco S.A.

The Minister Manigat eagerly welcomed the support of the Japanese government and the technical work done by the Office of monetization of programs of development assistance (BMPAD).

On his side, Mr. Katsuyoshi Tamura, the Japanese Ambassador in Haiti highlighted the importance for the Japanese government to support Haiti in the education sector "Japan knows that education raises man to the dignity of his being and strengthens the future of a nation. That is why the Japanese government provides unconditional support for efforts to increase the school park in Haiti in order to facilitate greater access to the quest for knowledge."

As students, they expressed their satisfaction with the reconstruction of the School, which will allow them to take courses in proper conditions. Same impression among teachers of the establishment who believe that the teaching/learning process, will pass more easily in such conditions.

All stakeholders, including the Minister called on the community and students in particular to ensure that this modern school be preserved and well maintained.
