Haiti - Literature : The novelist Yanick Lahens received the Prix Femina 2014

Monday, November 3, the Great figure of Haitian literature, the novelist Yanick Lahens, received the Prix Femina (at 2ndround, 6 votes in favor, 4 against) for her fourth novel "Bain de lune" at Éditions Sabine Wespieser.

A Prix immediately acclaimed by President Martelly "I warmly congratulate the Haitian novelist Yanick Lahens who won yesterday the Prix Femina, for her novel 'Bain de lune'. With the obtaining of Prix Femina by our novelist Yanick Lahens, Haitian literature continues to fascinate the world."

Her novel is a violent beauty of his country, crossed by the destruction, political expediency, families torn apart, but also the magic words of the peasants. "I am very happy. The recognition is good and I am especially sensitive to the fact that the jury understood that this story, if it happens in Haiti, is universal," declared Yanick Lahens at the announcement of her Prix Femina.

Born in 1953 in Port-au-Prince, Yanick Lahens, engaged in the social and cultural development of Haiti, brush uncompromising the picture of the Caribbean reality in each of her novels. Recall that this great figure of Haitian literature has received in 2011 the Excellence Award from the Association of Haitian studies for all his work and was awarded in March, of the title of Officer of Arts and Letters by Patrick Nicoloso, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the French Republic to the Republic of Haiti.
