Haiti - Economy : The SONAPI in Mexico for its project to extend the Industrial Park

Last August, President Michel Martelly and Mexican Ambassador Jose Luis Alvaro at the head of a delegation visited the Metropolitan Industrial Park SONAPI (National Society of Industrial Parks). Several initiatives have been taken between the Mexican Ambassador and the Haitian Government tto advance the cooperation between the two countries. The promise to accompany the SONAPI in its expansion project has been the focus of several meetings between the Embassy of Mexico and the Directorate General of SONAPI https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11801-haiti-economy-extension-of-metropolitan-industrial-park.html

Recall that this expansion project will be conducted in two phases. Phase I will include construction of 4 buildings of 10,000 m2, while during Phase II, 6 or 7 additional buildings will be constructed explained Bernard Schettini. For his part, Ambassador Jose Luis Alvarado confirmed that Mexico had agreed to disburse the 20 million dollars needed for the completion of the first phase. These buildings will accommodate new businesses and create in the first phase nearly 4,000 new jobs.

In the context of monitoring on the cooperation Haiti-Mexico, Me George May Figaro, Legal Adviser and Liszt Quitel, Chief of Staff to the CEO of the SONAPI accompanies a large Haitian delegation en route to Mexico City. For the SONAPI, this travel is part of the negotiation process, to officially start the expansion project.
