Haiti - Petit-Goâve : 14th day of protest at the call of BOD...

Friday, a part of the Joint Liberation Front, afraid of being weak on the political scene before the rise in power of Bloc of Democratic Opposition (BOD) affiliated with the "Patriotic Movement of the Democratic Opposition" (MOPOD) has put an end to their 48-hour truce and down to the streets again for a 14th day of demonstrations organized to the call of BOD, which demanded among other the departure of Mayor Sandra Jules and the resignation of the Government Commissioner, Me Alix Civil.

They tried, unsuccessfully, to pass in front of the Town Hall of Petit-Goâve heavily guarded nd secured by officers of the Corps of Intervention and Maintenance of Order (CIMO), the Departmental Unit for Maintenance of Order (UDMO) and peacekeepers of MINUSTAH. The tires of the UDMO agents were slashed, by opposition protesters without the agents, not realizing it...

The protesters then went on National Road #2, they have blocked for several hours.

In addition, two journalists Anel Joseph and Guyto Mathieu ave been the subject of verbal abuse by some demonstrators. Another journalist, Codio Roody was assaulted by a police officer who seized his camera.

In addition, some opposition protesters have distributed to the crowd of copies of a forged check from the Ministry of Finance, payable to Guyto Mathieu to discredit him. This act of defamation was condemned by the notables of the city and Gétheau Lindor, one of the leaders of the Joint Liberation Front.
