Haiti - Environment : The sea should no longer be considered as a trash
As part of World Maritime Day, the Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH) organizes this Sunday, to the public beach, Cariès North of the Capital), a set of activities designed to raise public awareness about the seabed, where stand most of the cultural and historical heritage of the country, announced Eric Prevost Junior SEMANAH Director General, who explained that "[...] the sea is a tool for national development able to create a lot of wealth for the well-being of the people and for the country. The sea can no longer be considered as a trash as was been the case for years [...]" stressing that SEMANAH is ready to make change the behavior the big polluters, who are used to throw products in foam or hydrocarbon releases in our maritime space, saying in conclusion "Haiti can become an attractive area likely to attract investors to modernize navigation and fishing practices in the country and establish water sports."
On the menu of activities Sunday: singing contest, final swimming, race sailboats, exposure of marine products. Marine food will be honored with a large trade fair on the public beach, where visitors can buy and consume their favorite fruits sea.
Recall that the SEMANAH committed $ 1 million gourdes to these activities in accordance with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and organized during the month of panel discussions, luncheon on the theme "Together for a navigation healthy and safer sea."
