The two-day workshop on the transition to digital television, organized by the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL), which was held on September 22-23 at the Hotel Karibe Convention Center, with the theme "Deployment Plan of Digital Television in Haiti" aimed at presenting once again, to audiovisual operators the deployment plan for infrastructure for digital television in the country, launched in July 2012 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-6110-haiti-telecommunication-migration-from-analogue-to-digital-tv.html and raise awareness among operators on technical and economic challenges of this transition.

Jean Marie Guillaume, Director General of CONATEL declared that Haiti "is the the most advanced country in this process of transition throughout the Caribbean, both technically and economically."

The presentation of the plan for infrastructure deployment of digital television was made by the American firm "Meintel, Sprignoli & Wallace" (MSW), which is specializes in this area and engaged by CONATEL, to accompany the technical studies of deployment of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) in Haiti.

MSW has presented several scenarios and examples of achievements of transition to digital television in the world, especially in Latin America. The cost of infrastructure deployment, until the monitoring of the process, leading to the full operation of digital television, which allowed participants to better understand the future of TV in Haiti and its consequences.

The cost of this transition, one of the main concerns of operators, will be important, about $30 million just for infrastructure, announced Jean Marie Guillaume, based on the work done by the American firm MSW... Intended to be reassuring on the support of these costs he affirmed to the operators that the "State will have of course to engage in this funding," without anyone knowing how much...

Recall that the transition from analogue TV to digital TV is a requirement of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) which set a deadline of June 17, 2015, to complete the transition. This date, however, has not been imposed on Haiti.
