Haiti - Economy : Inauguration of fruit and vegetable market in Petionville

On Friday, President Michel Martelly, accompanied by the Mayor of Petion-ville Yvanka Jolicoeur Brutus [President of the communal Commission] has inaugurated the market of fruits and vegetables of the Oge Street in Petionville.

Housed in a brand new building, this market of 345 square meters, built in(reinforced concrete, steel), funded to the tune of 18 million gourdes (18,323,905.62) by the Haitian government, through the Office of Monetization of Programs of Development Assistance, includes: ten units consisting of 56 stalls, four deposits, a toilet block, three showers and a water tank 10,000 gallons, can receive under hygienic and safe conditions, 56 merchants.

This market is a promise kept by the Head of State, who wanted to ensure that the products are presented in good conditions, had passed instructions for the implementation of this project, whose works began on 19 August "This market of fruits and vegetables, that I had promised has the same importance to me than any other Government projects."

Moreover, the President Martelly, invited merchants to maintain the market clean in order to be able to well welcome anytime their customers. Moreover, users are asked to show caution and solidarity before possible acts of banditry. The merchants expressed their gratitude to the Head of State for the modern market.
