Haitian-born Claude-Alix Bertrand, Haiti Polo Team Captain, who won its first International Polo Tournament on August 3rd, 2014, "PoloSF and Audi Sportscar Experience International Tournament" in San Francisco, USA, by defeated the United States by a score of 6-2, after defeating Panama, China and Argentina World Champion title, has received an official invitation from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries (MTIC) to go to Haiti from September 4 to 8.

This was a historical win as it was the first time a team from Haiti took part, and became champion of an international Polo tournament, Haiti is now placed in the rankings of the world’s Polo associations, a little-known sport in Haiti.

Friday at the Presidential Palace, the President of the Republic of Haiti, Michel Martelly, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, and Minister of Tourism Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin along with several other Ministers will honor Captain Claude-Alix Bertrand for his achievement as an International Polo Player.

Saturday, Claude-Alix Bertrand will be the Guest of Honor of the Grand Final of Miss Haiti 2014 at Karibe Convention Center.

Haiti Polo Team composed of Claude-Alix Bertrand, Akin Sotomi, Francisco Pizzaro and Peter Laughlin will compete in the South American International Polo Championships in Cordoba, Argentina from October 8th to 12th. "My goal is to promote the growth of tourism in Haiti’s rebirth, and to give Haiti a face, a root in polo the Sport of Kings," declared Claude-Alix Bertrand.
