Friday, another planning meeting was held between Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, also Minister of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE) and several Ministers including Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of Education and the Directors General in order to discuss a Special Plan for the new school year scheduled for 8 September. A few days before the start of school, the Government deploys a lot of means to ensure that this back to school 2014-2014 be a success.

During the meeting, the Minister Manigat announced a series of measures, which relate inter alia to: the distribution of school kits, meals in the canteen, subsidy and staffing of school books, purchase uniforms and furniture.

838,000 students will benefit from a hot meal on the first day of the school year through the National School Canteen Program (PNCS). This measure will be targeted primarily for the areas most affected by food insecurity throughout the national territory;

800,000 school kits will be distributed gradually in favor of students per age group at the national level;

600 million gourdes were made ​​available to publishers and booksellers to distribute 2 million textbooks in subsidy and 1 million books in staffing;

An envelope of 60 million gourdes is also dedicated to the purchase and distribution of uniforms;

100 million gourdes are mobilized for replacement or purchase of furniture and repair of school infrastructure.

In addition, the Office of Communication of the MPCE indicated that the construction of the National School of Crochu 1, of the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets and the National School of Thomazeau, section Crochu 2, located in the Department of the West, are fully completed through the execution of two projects from municipal funds.
