Haiti - Health : Graduation of two promotions in nursing

Friday, the First Lady of the Republic, Sophia Martelly, participated as a guest of honor at the graduation ceremony of two graduating classes, "Élites" 2008-2012 and "Althair" 2009-2013 in Nursing at the Public University of Artibonite in Gonaives (UPAG), comprising a total of 101 recipients.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Florence D. Guillaume, the Minister of Public Health, Nesmy Manigat, Minister of Education of some members of the deanery of UPAG, parents and friends of the graduates.

Sophia Martelly, whose presence at the ceremony was an act of encouragement and support to the recipients, said these new health professionals will be part of "the great machine of care delivery to the population [... ] Like other cities, Gonaives, my city, your city will need you. I invite you today to get involved in the sense. To give back, what this city, the department has given you."

Miss Marie Sainte Lancy Cherestal Laureate of the Promotion 2009-2013, sent words of encouragement and success to her colleagues, arguing for their inclusion in the medical sector.

Nesmy Manigat, sponsor of the promotion, advised recipients "Dare, learn and share [...] Your future is what you want it to be, it is up to you and you alone to build it [.. .] Think big while respecting the values."

For her part, Ms. Paule Colette E. Cupidon, the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing (FASI), has praised the institution, which is beginning to carve out a place of reference for training in Nursing.
