Haiti - Reconstruction : IDDI will invest $6 million

The Dominican Institute for Integral Development (IDDI) will invest $6 million in Haiti over the coming months. Antoine Langeard, coordinator of the project which will begin next October, said that this project will involve: psychological support, reforestation and renewable energy as well as many other aspects that contribute to improving the quality of life for thousands of people, especially the camp populations.

The IDDI regrets the situation that Haitians must live, still waiting for international assistance which less than 10% of pledges were confirmed, only 2% of rubble were removed and the reconstruction has not yet earnest.

The IDDI, stresses that Haiti cannot count for its development only on the government, the institute invites the organizations of the civil society to intervene quickly in the process and pleads for a better coordination of the management of the assistance.

Among other projects IDDI include the production of a guidance document for Haiti (Creole and French) with financial support from Spain.
