Haiti - Tourism : Launching of intervention works on the Palace Sans-Souci

On Friday, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, at the head of a large delegation including Stéphanie Balimir Villedrouin, Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries and Monique Rocourt, Culture Minister proceeded to the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of interventions and construction works of the Palace Sans-Souci (Milot), promised at the 3rd edition of thedialogue program and of proximity, "Gouvènman An Lakay ou" held in Milot November 16, 2013 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9892-haiti-politic-gouvenman-an-lakay-ou-in-milot-many-announcements.html

In his speech before a large crowd in jubilation, Prime Minister Lamothe recalled that the construction of the Palace Sans Souci [destroyed in the earthquake of 1842] reflects the vision of King Henry 1st, to enable the country to follow the path of sustainable development. Vision, recovered by the Martelly administration and the Government Lamothe, who today will invest 1 million American dollars from the Treasury in this World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO since 1982.

This work aims to restore this historic monument to its former glory. In the first phase this work will allow to rebuild and renovate the control room, the dependencies of the Grand Council of State, the Court of Caïmitier as well as retaining walls.

Moreover, it is also provided the creation of a museum in the Citadelle of King Henry and the construction of the road section Barrière-Battant/Milot, of infrastructures who participate in the stimulation of the tourism vector of growth, development and job creation for the people of the Northern Region.

Prime Minister Lamothe which gives special importance to the cultural and historical heritage declared "We call for the collaboration and support of all sectors of the country. Haiti must resume its place in the Caribbean; it must show all its richness and cultural diversity of the continent. May the spirit of King Christophe guide us! We have an appointment with the victory."
