Haiti - France : Donation of 10 vehicles and Scholarships

The Renault Foundation, represented by its Director, Ms Clare Martin, and the CEO of Renault Venezuela, Mr. Philippe Cornet, delivered the September 9, 10 new utilities Renault Master (built in Brazil) to three humanitarian workers in Haiti, during a ceremony inside the Ministry for Youth, Sports and Civic Action, attended by the Minister Evans Lescouflair and the ambassador of France in Haiti, Mr. Didier Le Bret.

The Haitian Red Cross, the main beneficiary of this operation, has received seven vehicles. Three of the Renault Master are Ambulance in a country where they are sorely lacking, and four will serve as a first step in promotion of health and preparedness and disaster risk will ultimately goal to establish activities generating income generating (shared taxis, for secondary recipients).

The Ministry for Youth, the Sports and the Civic Action which received two minibuses, want use them to serve youth in the mission of solidarity that will be conducted by volunteers of the Haitian National Civic Service.

The tenth vehicle was donated to the Foundation Hope for Haiti Children (Fondation Espoir pour les Enfants d’Haïti), working with children across three schools, an orphanage and a hospital. It will ensure the transportation of these children, including disabled people, between schools and the care center. Impressed by the energy expended by the Director, Mrs. Gladys Thomas, the importer of Renault in Haiti, Abeillauto SA, has convinced the Renault Foundation to support this dynamic structure.

The Renault Foundation will organize training for the maintenance of vehicles. She will give on September 10th in partnership with the Foundation Elle, ten scholarships which will enable young Haitian (girl) to continue their studies in France.
