Haiti - Politic : Jacques Edouard Alexis, reaffirms his independence of Préval

The presidential candidate Jacques Edouard Alexis reiterates that it is not the candidate of President René Preval [directly or indirectly] and he is maintaining no more political relationship with this last.

Jacques Edouard Alexis, presidential candidate of the Party Mobilization for the Progress of Haiti (Mobilisation pour le Progrès d’Haïti MPH) reiterated Wednesday that he had no political connections with President René Préval "I could be considered as [candidate] if I represented INITE, if there had not been my eviction, I will have the occasion to explain in time and place, stressing that the electoral campaign was not started yet [...] I should not be confused with another candidate"

He recalled that he served for several years under two governments allegiance Lavalas and he remains committed to the original principles "Justice, Transparency and Participation" of the Lavalas movement. Regarding the charges against the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) including its credibility and possible collusion with the government, Mr. Alexis said he had no particular fear. However, he urges people to do everything to remove their electoral card and vote massively on November 28, 2010, and "stay engaged during and after the vote, to prevent any possible attempt to misuse the results."

Adding that "victims of the earthquake should be the first to go to the polls because of the critical situation in which they find themselves since last January"
