Haiti - Bahamas : Fruitful talks between the two countries

Senior Government Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, the Office of the Attorney General, of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, the Bahamas Investment Authority, the Ministry of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Local Government and the Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation met earlier this week a large delegation of Haiti to discuss bilateral agreements.

The Haitian delegation led by Fresner Dorcin, Secretary of State for agricultural production to the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development was composed of Antonio Rodrigue, Ambassador of the Republic of Haiti to the Bahamas, Alix Célestin Director General of the National Port Authority, Jean Claude Barthélémy, Director of economic Relations and cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Max Millien, a senior official at the Ministry of Agriculture and Monorde Civil, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Standards, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

At this meeting were taken into account the realities to which Bahamas and Haiti are currently facing. Negotiations proved fruitful in particular in in particular in the development of draft texts on technical cooperation, bilateral trade and illegal migration, which must be signed this summer.
