Haiti - Justice : Arrest of the redoubted chief of gang Willy Étienne

Multirecidivist, suspected of many criminal acts, including the kidnapping last June of former Deputy Hughes Célestin, Willy Étienne was arrested Monday September 6, 2010 while he was inside the buildings of the Ministry of Finance in Port-au-Prince.

It should be transferred today by helicopter to the Cap-Haïtien where it will be questioned on the many crimes he is accused. Curiously, Willy has been cooperative while denouncing several "accomplices". The Haitian National Police (PNH) was arrested Monday night accomplices in Port-au-Prince.

In Cap-Haïtien, the population wondered and worried about the presence of this criminal in the city keeping the memory of his escape in 2008 where he had benefited complicity in the police, justice and prison officers. The population remains convinced that Willy Étienne still has accomplices in the city ready to help. This situation also concerned about those who collaborated with the PNH and allowed the arrest.
