Tuesday, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied among others by Colonel Himler Rébu, Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC), Haitian officials and the Ambassador of Taiwan (Republic of China) in Haiti Mr. Tsai Chiu Hwang, has proceeded in the presence of local elected officials, at the inauguration to Larco, in Les Cayes, of a Multidisciplinary Sport Center and socio-cultural.

This multidisciplinary center has several sports fields (football, basketball, volleyball, tennis, athletics) can accommodate thousands of visitors including 2,000 in the stands. This is the 11th sports complex to be built in two years, under the Administration Martelly across the country, besides rehabilitation of Ste-Thérèse Park in Petion-ville.

The Head of State said he was proud to have allowed the realization of such a sports infrastructure, which is a first in the annals of the city of Les Cayes. He was convinced that the people of the entire region will measure the value of this addition to the attractiveness cayenne and that they will have to heart to properly maintain it so that it is still functional and serve the development of the youth of the South in general and in particular of Les Cayes.

For his part, the Minister Rébu recalled that before the arrival of President Martelly as head of state, the construction of sports complex in Haitidating back to 1982, referring to the sports center of Carrefour.

Taking advantage of this inauguration ceremony, the Minister Rébu announced the upcoming construction of the sports center of Gonaïves and the official opening of the National Institute of Youth and Sports Science.
