Haiti - Security : Towards the transfer of functions of the Minustah

Wednesday, as part of a strategic assessment visit on the presence of the Minustah in Haiti and the gradual transfer of functions of the UN mission, Hervé Ladsous, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, is arrived in Port-au-Prince for a three-day mission .

During his stay, Mr. Ladsous will meet with officials of the Minustah, the United Nations country team ; officials of the Executive Branch, the Parliament, the Haitian National Police, as well as representatives of civil society, the diplomatic corps, political parties and members of the private sector, indicated Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesman the UN. Adding that the Under-Secretary-General will also meet with President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe and other officials concerned to discuss the latest political developments and emphasize the need to organize in the shortest possible time the elections.
