Haiti - Ethno-tourism : Traditional Massage in «Lakou»

Thursday, as part of an ethno-tourism project of the Bureau of Ethnology (BNE) and of Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industry (MTIC), Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, accompanied by Erol Josué, the Director of BNE has inaugurated, three massage rooms in the traditional "Lakou" of Badjo, Soukri and Souvenance of Artibonite "Our role is, among others, to promote our cultural values ​​and the idea is to revalue these popular traditions, to bring them within the reach of visitors," said the Minister.

For his part, Erol Josué noted that the highlighting of this heritage is an important part of the question of identity and respect for the right to be different, emphasizing to the Minister "You understand the transversality between BNE and other organs of the State."

In addition, responsible of "Lakou" (servants), gongrulated the Minister for development of these massage rooms, in these traditional areas.

Moreover, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin announced the establishment in Lakou of "Tourist Cottages" (development of country houses), to facilitate the reception and the visitor experience, eager to discover the world of Haitian Voodoo.
