Haiti - Tourism : Things are moving everywhere !

Project monitoring, North and Jacmel

Tuesday, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Industry (MTIC), had a working session with Monique Rosann, the Minister of Culture and Hérold Josué, the Director of the National Bureau of Ethnology, around different development projects of natural and cultural sites in the north : as well as a meeting with the Directors of the National Office of Civil Aviation (OFNAC) and the National Airport Authority (AAN), concerning the monitoring of ongoing project of Jacmel Airport.

Training in tourist reception

The Minister of Tourism, accompanied by her Director General and the Director of the Hotel School of Haiti (EHH), met twenty young students of the EHH selected for a one-month training on tourist reception. After this training, these young students will be deployed at international airports (including Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haïtien), where they will be responsible for informing visitors about the different destinations and attractions available in Haiti.

Reconstruction of 5 Bridges in Jacmel

Tuesday, Ms Dithny Joan Raton, the Departmental Director of the South East of MTIC and technicians of the Technical Office of the Historical Centre of Jacmel, met Michael Delandsheer, Executive Director of the Technical Implementation Unit (UTE) and the Haitian TECINA firm, in charge of the execution of the reconstruction of five bridges of Jacmel financed by the French Development Agency (AFD). A guided tour was scheduled.

Preliminary draft for the development of Geffrard Market

Geffrard Market represents the gateway of Jacmel and should be a place of conviviality between merchants, the residents and visitors. The Mayor of Jacmel and MTIC intend to improve this environment. It is in this perspective that the Haitian government wants to give it a new look by the end of the year.

Monitoring of projects with AFD and UNESCO

Wednesday, Ms. Dithny Joan Raton, the Departmental Director of South East of MTIC, accompanied by Mrs. Carola Paredes, Assistant Technical Heritage and Culture of the Spanish Cooperation (AECID / Southeast) and Ms Magdalene St. Paul, Technical Coordinator of Technical Bureau Historical Center BTCH, met with Ms. Olga Koukoui of the French Development Agency (AFD) and Ms. Emmanuelle Robert of UNESCO to monitor ongoing projects such as municipal complex Jacmel ; the development of the Interpretive Centre of carnival of Jacmel and the Community Workshop. This craft project for the development aims to attract young people, promote the transfer of businesses and provide enhanced support to artisans.
