Haiti - Education : Change in the surveillance of State examinations

Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) in a circular sent to all employees of the Ministry and its decentralized organs, informs all stakeholders that starting this year, the task of surveillance of state examinations will be carried out exclusively by educational agents, including teachers of all levels. This decision puts an end to past practices of sponsorships and favors in recruitment of that staff.

Text of the Circular :

"

In the double perspective of improving the status of teachers and the image of the teaching profession, and under the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the various union platforms, the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training wishes to inform all employees of the Central Office and decentralized services, whatever their rank, that the tasks related to surveillance, supervision and correction of State Examinations are now reserved for teachers and students in educational Sciences.

It is therefore requested to refrain from any intervention, any recommendations in favor of people who are not workers of education.

Technical Directors and their assistants, the department heads, departmental directors and employees are expected to respect and enforce the directive in their respective spheres of influence. Any behavior contrary to this directive is subject to disciplinary sanction.

Prof. Nesmy Manigat

Minister"
