Haiti - Education : Inauguration of the Lycée Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable of St-Marc
On Saturday, President Michel Martelly and his wife Sophia Martelly and the Deputy of St-Marc, Altès Toussaint, proceeded to the inauguration of the Lycée Jean-Baptiste Pointe du Sable of St-Marc.
This decentralized educational institution offers free education, aimed primarily at disadvantaged and can accommodate up to 720 students from kindergarten to graduation (terminale). Besides the library, computer labs and music, the institution has football fields, basketball, volleyball and a running track of 400 meters with 6 lanes.
In the presence of some members of the Hand in Hand for Haiti (HHH) Foundation whose one of the main founders, Olivier Bottrie, the Head of State was initially welcomed the initiative, while making this establishment a model of school infrastructure across the country. The President stressed the quality of education offered, which fully complies with the official program of the Ministry of National Education and promised to work for the continuity of the program
"The attention given to children, specific training programs in education, language learning, fundamental for the personal development of children, psychological counseling and physical education of youth are all characteristic signs of quality work offered in this new facility."
