The Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) is pleased that the platform of educational organizations, chaired by Josué Mérilien of the National Union of Haitian Normaliens (UNNOH) has signed Tuesday an agreement with the Ministry and also understood the need to suspend the strike to allow students to complete their academic year, while continuing the dialogue with the MENFP on the main demands of the teacher world.

The signing of this engagement between the ministry and the union platform of educational organizations on social dialogue, which began around the specifications of teachers, is a milestone in the search of concerted solutions on issues affecting the education system.

The Minister of Education, Nesmy Manigat, urged the unions ofall persuasions to work together for the signing of a common framework for the defense of the interests of eachers and reiterated its willingness to work with all stakeholders of education, especially teachers, to protect the interests of the school.

He welcomed the positive response of teachers' unions and the resumption of classes in public schools, to less than a month of year-end exams. According to information obtained from the Departmental Directorates of Education (DDE), most public schools have resumed their work, as usual, to the satisfaction of students and parents.
