Haiti - Elections : The Monitoring Committee of the El Rancho agreement welcomes the decision of the Executive

Following the publication by the President Michel Martelly of a Decree dated May 6, 2014, proceeding to the creation of the Provisional Electoral Council (in accordance with Articles 7 and 8 of the Agreement) and the appointment of its members https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11084-haiti-flash-new-cep-president-martelly-publishes-the-names.html , members of the Monitoring Committee of the El Rancho agreement, welcomed the decision of the Executive.

A couple of hours after the release, Tuesday, May 6, of the presidential decree concerning the establishment of the Provisional Electoral Council, pursuant to sections 7 and 8 of the Agreement El Rancho, two members of the Monitoring Committee of the agreements welcomed the decision of the Executive.

"[...] The Executive proves once again its commitment to hold elections in the country this year and also shows that the President Martelly continues to meet the commitments he undertaken in the agreement El Rancho," welcomed Jeantel Joseph, a member of the Commission and national Coordinator of the National Consortium of Political Parties. He invites other actors that signed the agreement to respect, too, their commitments.

Former Senator Irvelt Chéry, Representative in the Commission, of the "Organization of People in Struggle" (OPL) thanked all the players who contributed to the establishment of the CEP by confirming their representatives, particularly welcoming the replacement by the Executive, of Emmanuel Ménard, former president highly contested, to the Transitional College of the Permanent Electoral Council (CTECP).
