Haiti - Humanitarian : Assistance for detainees at the Police Station of Petit-Goâve

Sunday, the Action Center for Health (CASA) in collaboration with the youth of the Red Cross of Petit-Goâve and Radio Préférence FM, proceded to a major distribution of basic necessities products to detainees at the Police Station of Petit-Goâve, such as food, soaps, detergents, clothes, money etc... a humanitarian donation of the Apostolic Church of the city.

"This distribution aims to develop among citizens the sense of solidarity, generosity, humanity and help the weakest," said the leader of CASA, Dr. Fred Jasmin, who recalled that the CASA, relied on the support of all citizens of good will and charitable institutions.

"Humanitarian aid should not only come from outside. It must be local, regional and national. The example must be given first by Haitians," declared for his part, Guyto Mathieu, Director of Radio Préférence FM.

Young detainees took the opportunity to denounce on Radio Préférence FM, poor prison conditions, lengthy pretrial detention and the slow pace of justice in Petit-Goâve.

Police officers reserved a warm welcome to the delegation and morally supported this initiative.

Next Sunday will be the turn of another church or a school, to provide assistance, that will be distributed to the poor.
