Last Wednesday, Charles Jean Jacques, Minister of Social Affairs and Labour (MAST) has proceeded to the installation of the new Director General of the National Office of Migration (NOM), Mr. Frenel Normil.

Thanking Lolo Stern, the outgoing Director General for his availability and his services rendered to the community during its passage to this Office, the Minister Jean Jacques welcomed the new head of the NOM for its long experience in public administration which will serve as a benchmark for efficient and effective management of ONM "[...] You have held senior positions of responsibility. You have therefore abilities and skills to continue the revitalization of the ONM," who, on behalf of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister has invited the new head of the ONM to put his contribution, expertise, leadership and his consistently at work to meet their expectations.

In his speech for the occasion, Frenel Normil, expressed his willingness to serve the country and assured the Head of State and the Prime Minister of his determination to implement the policy of the Government with the support of MAST in the field migration.

Aware that the Office today can not only be satisfied to fulfill its role of host structure of returnees, Mr. Normil promised to work with the MAST, for their social reintegration "I pledge to accomplish with dignity the mission entrusted to me and to take advantage of all available resources to reduce the number of boat people, according to the Government's vision."

Remind for our readers that the mission of the ONM is to follow the evolution of migration flows, to provide assistance to displaced persons, to accompany the deported immigrants and propose sustainable solutions based on the government's social policy.

From July to November 1995 Frenel Normil was in charge of engineering at the Office of Insurance Against Third Vehicles (OAVCT), then Administrative Director of the Caisse d'Assistance Sociale (CAS), CEO of the National Construction Company, CEO of the National Society of Materials (SONA / MAT), Construction Manager at the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES), Member of the Technical Office of the Directorate of the Ministry of Social Affairs (MAST). He held the post of Director General of Maritime and Navigation Service of Haiti (SEMANAH) before this new appointment.
