Head-to-head, the two men exchanged, among other things, on the uture of Haiti as well as the next steps in the career of Dany.

This interview was followed by a cocktail offered by the Head of State, in honor of Dany Laferrière in the presence of many personalities in the literary field including writers Frankétienne and Gary Victor and the First Lady, Sophia Martelly, of Monique Rosann, the new Minister of Culture, Ambassadors of Canada (Henri Paul Normandin) and France (Patrick Nicoloso) and Rectors of Universities.

In his remarks for the occasion, the President Martelly expressed, once again, the homage of all the Haitian Nation to Dany Laferrière for this rare distinction and outstanding contribution to the promotion of literature and Haitian culture "Your election my dear Dany at the prestigious French Academy is for us a source of great pride. The honor which is done to you, reflects on Haiti as a whole. With you is the Haitian literature, somehow, that made ​​its debut to the French Academy. Because, through you, the Academy also honors a long line of writers who have given their letters of nobility to Haitian literature and which, for two centuries, contributing to the spread of the French language and Francophonie in the Americas and around the world."

For his part Dany Laferrière thanked the Head of State, for this mark of attention and took the opportunity to retrace a good part of his life, from his childhood to the golden age of his literary career. He also paid tribute to his elder Frankétienne, whose he welcomed the abundance of his work.
