Haiti - Diplomacy : Haiti wants to strengthen exchanges with Turkey

Tuesday, at the Primature, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, in the presence of new Haitian Chancellor Duly Brutus and Laleau Wilson, Minister of Commerce and Industry had a working session with Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey [first time in history, that a Turkish Minister officially visit a Caribbean country.]

Laurent Lamothe and Chancellor Davutoğlu have agreed on the need to build exchanges between the two countries in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, energy, urban and educational infrastructure.

The two governments also pledged to work jointly for the establishment of a legal framework that will foster among others, the arrival of Turkish businessmen in Haiti. In this regard, a mission of the Turkish Development Agency, is expected to Port-au-Prince to discuss the legal framework.

Chancellor Davutoğlu, on behalf of the President of Turkey, Abdullah Gül, invited the President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister Lamothe, to visit his country to explore other areas of cooperation.

Note that the Chancellor Duly Brutus, who will participate in Istanbul from 12 to 14 May 2014, to a high-level meeting of Caricom, could on this occasion sign several cooperation agreements.
