Haiti - Reconstruction : Haiti at 7th World Urban Forum in Medellín (Colombia)

Haiti participated in the 7th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF7) from April 5 to 11 in Medellin (Antioquia), Colombia via the Unit for Housing Construction and Public Buildings (UCLBP) and the Interministerial Committee Spatial Planning (CIAT).

For 6 days, participants from 160 countries will exchange around the theme "Urban Equity in Development - Cities for Life". On this occasion, will be awarded to the UCLBP (3rd place) through Harry Adam, Director General of UCLBP, the prestigious "IHS Alumini International Award" intended to recognize and reward individuals and / or institutions contributing to the management and urban development through outstanding and innovative initiatives. The first prize was awarded to Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State in Nigeria and the second price to Nguyen Quangof Viet Nam.

To illustrate the achievement post-earthquake in Haiti, are exposed on the stand Haiti several urban development projects already materialized, running and in perspective. They are presented and grouped according to three distinct themes 1) Urban Renaissance (the administrative center of Port-au-Prince, rehabilitation of public spaces in the area of ​​the Champ de Mars, the redevelopment of the Place Boyer in Petion-Ville, development of the waterfront area of Jacmel, etc...) ; 2) New Developments (village Lumane Casimir, housing parks) ; 3) Relocation and rehabilitation of neighborhoods (16/6, Martissant and Baillergeau / AIQIP).

This forum brings together experts from many different backgrounds, local governments, national, regional, NGOs, community organizations, experts / professionals, research institutes and universities, the private sector, development banks, the foundations, United Nations organizations and other international agencies.

In addition to being a unique opportunity for Haiti to discuss the current state of our cities, the 7th session of the World Urban Forum will also help substantially "nourish" the preparation of the development agenda post-2015 and the revision of the urban agenda which will take place at Habitat III in 2016.
