Haiti - Technology : Presentation of Project Metrocable of Port-au-Prince

Thursday, the Company POMA, a global leader in the transport by cable, which carries 6 million passengers per hour on 5 continents in 73 countries, presented to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) the Project Metrocable of Port-au-Prince, a new mode of urban public transport.

Developed in 5 phases, the project will have 2 Metro Cable stations of two types and a length of about 1.5 km, the cabin is attached to a moving cable running between the stations, upon arrival to the station the cabins disengage of the cable and slow to allow the loading and unloading of passengers. With a capacity of 8 passengers seated and 2 standing per cabin, the Metro Cable System, can carry 3,000 people per hour each way.

Note that this is the same firm who realized among others, in New York, the cable that connects Manhattan to Roosevelt Island. To learn more about the realization of POMA visit : https://www.poma.net/en/historic.html
