Haiti - Politics : Towards a better governmental communication

Wednesday, under the Support Project for Strengthening Public Management in Haiti (PARGEP), a support mission to the coordination of governmental communication was launched at the Primature...

This two-week mission will be executed in collaboration with experts from Quebec, PARGEP, the Office of Management and Human Resources (OMRH) and the Ministry of Communication. It aims to diagnose problems and identify solutions for governmental communication in Haiti in order to make more effective the coordination of information.

Lucien Francoeur, the Secretary General of the Primature, reiterated the Government's commitment to strengthen the Haitian government communications, which had to be "a political and institutional instrument to enable it to know what exists, what is done, the decisions, activities, by ensuring through mechanisms of functional coordination, the unification and harmonization of statements of different actors."

In his speech, Josette Darguste, the Acting Minister of Communications, said that government communications, should be understood in its design and its implementation, in order to bring government closer to citizens.

Mr. Gervais Fortier, Director of Communications and Political Affairs at the Ministry of Culture and Communications of Quebec, speaking on behalf of his colleagues in the mission, promised to use their experience, in order to enable the Government of Haiti to achieve the objectives pursued.

In the afternoon, a workshop was held at the Ministry of Communication, attended by Josette Darguste, Nécaire Grégoire, of Director Generals and senior executives of the Ministry, representatives of the Primature including Ady Jean Gardy, Special Adviser to the Prime Minister, in terms of communication and Quebec experts. Discussions were held around the understanding of the institutions involved in governmental communication and relations between them.

At the end of this mission, the experts will make recommendations for the implementation of a strategy to harmonize communication from the Government.
