Haiti - Politic : Communal Fund, the participation of the population is essential
The Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Laurent Lamothe, accompanied by his advisors and his Chief of Staff, met at the Ministry the past week, the deputies Almétis Junior Saint-Fleur (Cité Soleil), Beguens Théu (La Gonâve) and Rosemond Jodson Leroy (Terre-Neuve)round the priorities of their respective communes.
The Prime Minister stressed on the importance of public participation in the selection of needs to avoid frustration in the implementation of projects financed through the communal funds, emphasizing for the Deputies "At the leval of my government, we have for objective to improve the lives of people living in extreme poverty [...] The population cannot become the victims of political differences between local officials and the central government actors when it is question of development actions."
Remember that each commune of country has benefited from various projects funded through the communal funds where an equal amount of 10 million gourdes was allocated to each commune in the budget of the Republic.
Parliamentarians have congratulated the government for this inclusive approach and the various achievements in their constituencies regardless of their political affiliation. According to Laurent Lamothe, these 3 communes, like many others, deserve special attention for having been neglected in the past "That is why we decided at the level of my government to implement special development plans in order to rapidly achieve a transformation of the latter."
