Haiti - Humanitarian : Two new agreements for over $13M with Japan

Thursday, Pierre Richard Casimir, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, signed two grant agreements by exchange of notes, valued at 13.1 million U.S. dollars, with the Japanese Ambassador in Haiti, Mr. Katsuyoshi Tamura et Ms. Akiko Oda, resident Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Haiti, in the presence of Joseph Lionel Duvalsain, Director of the National Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation (DINEPA) and Marie Raymond Guirlène Charité Director General of the Ministry of public Health and Population (MSPP).

The first agreement concerns the rehabilitation and modernization of the Saint-Michel Hospital in Jacmel (Southeast), an additional $ 6.7 million that modifies the one signed between the two governments, October 4, 2012 for an amount of $ 14 million for a total of ± 20 million.

The second agreement for an amount of 6.4 million U.S. dollars, concerns the implementation of the project to restore the drinking water supply system for the town of Léogâne (West) including, among others: the restoration of a water tank, the installation of approximately 36 km of water pipes, the connection of 900 housing in the town of Léogâne.
