Haiti - Politic : Towards the Development of Pointe-à-Raquette

As part of a visit for the implementation of the Special Plan of La Gonâve, an interministerial delegation led by Mary Mimose Félix, the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, in charge of promoting the peasantry, went to the town of Pointe-à-Raquette.

The members of the delegation took the opportunity to validate the measures included in the Special Plan with the population : form a Monitoring Committee with the representative of each communal section and Interim Executive Agents ; ensure if the selected areas are suitable for housing public buildings.

The Commune of Pointe-à-Raquette will benefit among other :

- Of the construction of a Lycée;

- Of the installation of a processing unit of cassava and peanuts;

- Of the accompanyingof economic initiatives of small artisans by a Start up funds;

- Of a Center for Reading and Cultural Activities (CLAC)

- Of a computer lab with Internet access;

- Of a play area for children (public garden);

- Of vocational school, the first school of fishing of Haiti ;

- Of the construction of a communal asylum

- Of public cisterns;

- Of the construction of three fishing villages;

- Of the installation of a bakery and 3 Community restaurants;

- Of the repair and installation of solar streetlights;

- Of the rehabilitation of health centers;

- Of implementation of literacy centers in the villages of fishermen;

- and the edevelopment of the port of Pointe-à-Raquette.

In addition to the "Ede Pèp" social program, the Commune of Points-à-Raquette will receive two motorcycles for the police, will benefit from a campaign to grant birth certificates, of transfer of capacity to fishermen and merchants of products for the exploitation of aquatic resources and fishing equipment.

All these actions and works, which have been validated on-site, with technicians from different institutions responsible [The National Institute of Vocational Training (INFP); Office for Monetization of Programs of Development Assistance (BMPAD); Ministry of Soaicles Affairs and Labour (MAST) and the Office of the Minister Delegate for Promotion Peasantry (BMDPP)] will begin from the month of March 2014.
