Haiti - Security : New access road to the port administration

The General Directorate of National Port Authority (APN) inform the general public and users of the Port in particular, that it has proceeded to the construction of a new access road, within the port area, to better fulfill its obligations vis-à-vis the International Code for the Security of Ships and Port Facilities (ISPS).

Indeed, the provisions of this Code make of the port zone, a "sterile" zone, that is to say, free from the presence of any actor, having nothing to do with the docking operations of loading and unloading of ships.

This new bypass, approximately 1 kilometer long and 15 meters wide that can accommodate traffic in both directions, will now allow access the port administration, by avoiding the proximity of maritime operations. This arrangement, participates in the willingness to profoundly transform the National Port Authority and put it in line with international norms and standards.

This new way, should at term acilitate better security controls and make the Port of Port-au-Prince, a real restricted zone.
