Haiti - Army : Members of the Intelligence Service trained in Argentina

Wednesday at the Primature, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, in the presence among others of Rodolph Joazile, the Minister of Defense, received the Argentinean Minister of Defence, Agustín Rossi. On the agenda of this Working Session : Cooperation in the field of defense, border security, the environment, the training of members of Intelligence Service of Haiti.

At the end of this session, Rodolph Joazile declared "As Minister of Defence of Argentina he explored with us different avenues of cooperation in term of dfense, of security. We discussed the problem of the border, the problem of the environment, because you know that in many countries there is the armed forces that are involved in reforestation, in the protection of the environment [eg the Dominican Republic], we have discussed this issue with him, through an environmental Guard, I think it is extremely important.

[...] As the last record we have seen with him, the system of collection of information, of the treatment of information. Intelligence system in Haiti is a little weak. I remember, young officer [...] the best intelligence officers that we had, had been trained in schools in Argentina [...] if we were able to enjoy the presence of the Minister of Defense, to include youth in Argentine schools, to train them. I think it would be extremely important and he responded favorably.

Now we will form two committees, one on the side of Argentina and one on the side of the Ministry of Defence of Haiti, in order to make proposals and exchanges in view of the signing of an agreement..."
