Haiti - Education : Training in Nursing from 3 to 4 years

Tuesday, Dr. Florence Duperval Guillaume, Minister of Public Health has officially launched the new curriculum of Nursing who now serves as a standard reference to everything that needs to be taught in this field, on the whole national territory.

Under this new standard curriculum, the nursing education increased from 3 years to 4 years. Now to get his license, the student must obtain at least 130 credits whose at least 60 credits in nursing and 70 credits in other subjects and support a synthesis project, successfully.

This curriculum aims, inter alia, to modify, standardize and develop the current curriculum of nurses, so that it is based on a competency-based approach. With this new curriculum,the national schools of Nursing in Haiti will be identified at the university level and integrated into the campus of State Universities.

"This is agreat turning point for nursing education in Haiti," declared Florence Duperval Guillaume who invited the teachers and leaders of institutions of nursing education to exercise strict discipline during the implementation phase of the new curriculum.
