Saturday in the town of Petit Goâve which hosted the 4th exit of "Gouvènman an lakay ou", was inaugurated the Courthouse fully renovated and expanded. The ceremony was held under the auspices of the Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe and Me Jean Renel Sanon, Minister of Justice and Public Security.

This newly renovated building has seen its reception capacity increase. It is a well secured building and having better working conditions for the benefit of judges. The prosecution near the TPI was relocated in larger premises to allow parquetiers to be more effective in their capacity as prosecuting authority and guarantor of social order.

With new, more spacious and better equipped courtroomsand better equipped offices, the Court of First Instance (TPI) of Petit Goâve has entered a new era. The toilet and the courtyard of the Courthouse are now more attractive and will contribute to provide a better welcome for litigants. The premises of the Prosecutor near the TPI has also been completely renovated.

Me Alix Civil, the Government Commissioner near the TPI of Petit-Goâve, welcomed the opening of the Courthouse and expressed confidence that this new working environment will significantly contribute to a better functioning of justice in this part of the West Department.

Aside from the rehabilitation works undertaken in Petit-Goâve, the Ministry of Justice has already started construction works and of rehabilitation in several other jurisdictions in the country. The Court of Appeal of Cap-Haitien fully restored just waiting for its inauguration. The courts of Peace of Milot, of Arniquet, Ouanaminthe and the Peace Court section south of Cap-Haitien were also rehabilitated.
